DEAR EVERYBODY

I always look forward to my birthday

I don’t know why, and I feel like a 10 year old little girl admitting it, but I always get so excited when my birthday comes around. Maybe it’s just me being excited that I have a whole day where everything revolves around me (:D) which very well might be true haha! But I just love it when people that I never really talk to every day rekindle their friendship and think to text me, or write on my facebook wall, or snapchat me. I feel so special!! And I just want to return to that moment when I felt close to them, whether if it was in class or through a club or something. And often, I feel so isolated because I’m not that socially out there, but I am reminded that so many people care about me. I feel so grateful to be surrounded by so many friends and loved ones, and every year my birthday reminds me of this, because every year I seem to forget.

  • “why is this so expensive”
  • “why is everything so ugly”
  • “why are 90% of my clothes from here”

“I think people are most beautiful,
when they aren’t trying to be.
When you catch them
daydreaming,
giggling,
dancing,
sleeping.
When the light reflects perfectly off their face,
giving them a heavenly glow.
When you catch them doing a silly little dance whilst cooking up dinner.
When they are lying in bed, tangled in sheets,
sleeping. Not having a single bad thought cross their precious mind.
That’s when i find you at your best.”

We are deeply saddened to learn that TEDxMidAtlantic speaker Sam Berns passed away Friday night at age 17. Sam had progeria, a rare rapid aging disease that affects approximately one out of four to eight million children.

Above, moments from Sam’s TEDxMidAtlantic talk, in which he shares his advice for living happily, no matter the challenges. Sam’s talk displays his great courage, infectious positivity, and wisdom beyond his years. He will be missed.
